Interpreting Spend Insights

  • Spend data appears as new columns in your dashboard (e.g., “Total Apparel – Transactions”).
  • Index values are used instead of raw transaction counts for privacy.
  • A tooltip explains each index when you hover over it.
  • Use horizontal scroll to view all columns.

Tips for Making the Most of Spend Data

  • Sort by transaction volume to identify reliable markets with active data.
  • Use store vs. market trends to spot emerging opportunities or issues.
  • Export data and overlay your internal KPIs for a comprehensive performance view.

Limitations and Considerations

Note: Spend data is not available for every store or market. It depends on Mastercard's criteria (e.g., minimum number of stores or transactions).

Lag Time: Spend data is updated with a 1–3 week delay, making it ideal for macro trend analysis rather than real-time reporting.

Use Cases

  • Inventory Planning: Shift stock based on market demand signals.
  • Lease Evaluation: Identify underperforming areas using real spend data.
  • Executive Reporting: Differentiate between internal issues and external market changes.
